Ok first things first. Everything on this Late Styled JD-B is sanblasted and primed. Question is, which brand of paint to use. I would like a high shine so should I use a clear coat over an acrylic enamel? If so what brand.

Get a name brand automotive paint, Dupont, PPG ect.
If you go with acrylic enamel put in the hardner and thinner as recomended by the paint company. Basecoat clearcoat works good also and is more expensive. First check and see how many color matches for JD they have. Dupont has 3 or 4. Buy a pint of each and pick the one that fit your tractor best. The JD we painted took almost 2 gallon. If you use acrylic enamel mix the hardner in your gun or a can,and don't pour the paint out of the gun back in the can. As the hardner will set up the paint and can ruin the paint that is left. As for the paint at the tractor store, it is good for a quickie wash, scuff and paint go plow job. But as we spent 250 + hours on our tractor we did not want to short cut the paint. We have a show tomorow see you later.

The best paint for this is John Deere Classic green and yellow.

I agree that John Deere Classic Green and yellow is what you need. Some guys I know use a hardener in the JD paint, they think it makes it shine more. I think it just makes it harder to apply a good finish as hardeners like PPG's don't seem to mix well.

Use PPG 9000 and their hardner ,gives it that wet look.....Du Pont and their hardner does a good job also..... sit down before you ask the price...if the tractor is truly ready to paint, you have put a heck of a lot of work into it....don't skimp on the paint !
