Can anyone tell me what kind of filter I should be using on my reperator to filter out silica? The one I am using says it is good for P100 particulates.

Sir, I would suggest you consult the personnel at the store where you purchase the supplies. They should be knowledgeable about what the required PPE for operating your equipment with the chemicals, blast media, etc. should be. May I also suggest that you get (not sure of the correct nomenclature) the oval shaped fabric disks that attach to the filters. I don't have to use my respirator very often, but find that these do help filter out a lot of the dust that is generated. It also helps filter out the vapor of the chemicals that is in the air. I hope that this helps you make your decision on the type of filters that you need.

I would suggest you not use sand. There are several companies that sell a by product of coal bunrnig steam plants. The one in my area sells one called Black Beauty. This product has no hazzards at all and will do just as good as sand. I use it in my sand blaster and sand blasting cabinet. If you need more information please contact me and I will be glad to help.
