Question - Looking through the archives, it refers to "Easy Bake" oven cleaner and a pressure washer as a good way to remove paint, grease ect.. I also will have quite a bit of serfus rust to remove on the sheet metal. Anything out there that will do both in one shot? Not looking for show finish but need to get several pices of equipment protected.

Hi Errin.

I think that should be "Easy Off", a brand name of over cleaner. It works good on grease and paint but not rust. I don't know of anything that will do it all. Fresh, "light" rusting can be handled with a phosphoric acid treatment. Old surface rust, tight and not loose, is best removed by sandblasting. Sanding with a coarse grit (24 or 36) can also be used in some cases but it may be time consuming. You could also consider a rust "treatment" product like "Extend" by Loctite/Permatex...available at NAPA stores. I have used this product on tightly adhering rust on a gas tank that was tender enough in thickness that I didn't want to sandblast it. It can be topcoated with a paint of your choice.
