I have mechanically restored a Moline tractor and am getting ready to paint it. It has "Van Sickle" paint on it now and was wondering if that should all come off and start from scratch or sand it and paint over it. Also, is that a good paint or should I go with OEM paint or with PPG or Dupont. I want a good paint job that looks good and also dosn't fade so fast. This is my first restoration tractor, and I don't want to make any bad judgement decisions. Thanks for any advice. Jason

Get it preped smooth and shoot it with 2 part primer/sealer, lightly sand it the next day with 600 paper and shoot it with Urethane with hardner. Mix it EXACTLY as direction RE: paint/reducer/hardner. Shoot it with about 45 lbs air pressure with an inline moisture filter and do it out side with a good filter mask. keep the paint spray going away from your face. Nasty stuff to shoot. Don't try to lay it on to heavy, first coat light just cover the surface, wait about 5 minutes and give it another coat watching the paint as it goes on. stay about 10-12 inches away from surface and flow it on till you see it gloss and keep moving. You'll get a feel for the amount you lay on as you watch the surface as you spray.
Have fun..... .be careful, open air ventelation spray highly lethal

Van Sickle is typical farm store paint, meaning it fades. Remove all of it and use DuPont or PPG.
