I find that when it is full of sand. I get way to much sand coming out and it does not work very effecently. When it is just about ready to run out of sand it really rips the rust and old paint off real well. I did not get a user manual with the thing just a assembly manual.
I must be using it wrong.
Can some one give me a run through on the proper use of thse things?

Contact Reade Materials and see if there is a supplier of their Black Beauty product in you area and quit using the sand. Sand is very hazardous to your health if you do not have the proper breathing equipment. Link

Hi Kelly,

Real nice looking H!

There should be a ball valve at the bottom of your tank that regulates the material flow into the air stream. I suspect you now have that valve wide open and you are getting too much sand for the amount of air being used. On my pressure blaster (similar to yours), I typically will have this valve only half way open.

If you have such a valve, and I think you must, try only opening it 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 way to see if things work better.

Thanks. Thats what I was thinking.
What about the valve to the top of the tank.
DO you leave that on open all the time or just to get pressure to the tank then close it?

The tank needs to be pressurized all the time you are using it, so you should leave that one fully open.

I've been using the bigger model in the same range over the past few weekends and I'd agree with what everyone else has said. I found that as the compressor got hot it began to produce water vapour and, despite havign a filter fitted, it started to clog the sand outlet. Momentarily shutting the top (air) valve while blasting pressurises the tank and clears the sand valve again but it does have to be done repeatedly once you start to get water in the system. next time I'll be trying to get a better water filter.
