What do you use to get old paint off of a tractor
other than sandblasting? Any chemicals that will
turn it loose, etc...?

Duane,

I have found one of the cheapest ways to remove paint is to use oven cleaner. I buy the cheapest kind I can find, and it removes most of the paint, and all the grease. Just spray it on, it comes in aerosol cans, and then pressure wash it off. just becareful of the fumes when spraying it on. during application and while it is setting, the fumes can be pretty strong.

Duane, The best way I have found is using paint stripper and a pressure washer. This removes the paint down to the metal and degreases it good. I usually put some phospheric acid on the rust, knock off any loose rust and prime. I like this better than sandblasting on a more or less complete tractor because I don't have to worry about the sand getting into the bearings and such. I have done several this way and they turned out real good.

Most hardware and paint supply stores sell paint removers that work very well. Try these websites, www.eastwoodcompany.com and www.blulightning.com for paint removing supplies.
