Has anyone out there had any experience with a rust eliminator called POR-15? Will Rustoleum (R)enamel stick to it and give a durable surface? It sure works well on battery boxes. Thanks.

If you are going to use POR15 be prepares to spend $100 per gallon.

You can save $30 of your hard earned cash by using this product instead. Have bought it 2 or 3 times and have had same and better results than with POR. They know a lot more about paints than POR Co as well

Don't get it on your glasses, nothing will take it off, I had to throw away a pair.

My dad and I have used POR15 extensively. You have to follow their system for it to work right. Clean the metal, prep it, and use the etcher they sell. Then coat with POR15, and let it cure. Use the tie-coat primer and topcoat with whatever. You won't find a better rust preventative anywhere, if you follow the directions. DON'T get any on you. There's nothing on earth but time that gets it off.

I painted the insides of old truck fenders with it, and also the battery tray of my old tractor. I was told it can be coated with an enamel if done while slightly tacky. I did that on the tractor, painted over with red enamel, and it looks to be fine. If allowed to dry completely, you have to paint it over with a product called Ty-coat to be able to paint it. It is sensitive to UV radiation so painting over is a must. I also did the rusty oil pan on my truck but maybe there was a bit of oil on it because some spots aren't holding so good.
