I just bought some Rust Converter from Interstate Products, Inc. Have any of you folks tried it? Sounds too good to be real. It's supposed to turn the rust into a primer type coating. They recommend light wire brushing, water rinse, rust converter application (brush or spray) and top coat with acrylic enamel. Obviously sanding and priming is required before the top coat.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Have no knowledge of Interstate, but most I have seen and used are phosphoric acid based. Converts iron oxide (rust) to iron phosphate if I remember correctly. Anyway it's a hard black coating. Does basically nothing on clean steel, only works on rust. Get surface clean as possible and apply as directed. Sand and prime and paint. Has worked well for me. Dave
