parts are all clean and ready for primer, now what is best cleaner to use to make sure all oil and any cleaning solvent are removed. only want to do this once.

PPG (and others) make a wax and grease remover to use before painting. I think the number is DX 330, a stronger version is DX 440. It's pretty good stuff, will remove all residual oil, and you can use it before sanding etc to keep from embedding the oil into the surface.

I use Xylene (Xylol). One rag for washing, one for wiping dry. Keep second rag clean to keep from spreading oils. You might have to go over twice to make sure, depends on how dirty the metal is. If the rag looks dirty the metal isn't ready to paint. USE CARE. Use gloves impervious to xylene and best to do outdoors for ventilation. It's also VERY FLAMMABLE. Used this in production trailer and machine fabrication where I used to work, works well.
