does the amperage of the battery charger make any difference also does multiple electrodes result in less amperage per elctrode thus creating a longer cycle time in the tank.

the caustic acid soultion also has my attention is there any need for any particular concentration rate for the solution

thanks for any help as we are looking at doing multible parts in a large container

thanks mike

Amperage is primarily dependant on surphace area of the item being derusted and the area of the anode. Given that the process can run unattended, time has always been fairly irrelevent to me. Doing multiple parts will only require that each part be wired for conductivity.
The increase of the number of anodes will not slow the process, and might speed things up. The biggest problem with anodes is keeping them relatively clean and crap free.
The Caustic Soda solution doesn't increase speed sufficiently to compensate for the hazard of working with caustic. It also requires additional cleaning of the part after derusting, to preclude the caustic from ruining any paint applied. Caustic can hide in the microporoscity, and leach out after painting. There is also the disposal problem with the caustic when you are done.

Franz,

Are you saying not to use soda in the mixture? I thought the soda was necessary. Dave

You posted "the caustic acid soultion also has my attention is there any need for any particular concentration rate for the solution", and I read that as you intending to use caustic soda as an electrolite. Caustic soda can be used as an electrolite, but is difficult to deal with, so I replied as I did, suggesting you not use the caustic process. Cuaustic soda is an extremely strong Base, not acid, that will also remove skin and flesh from the human body.
The electrolite I use is WASHING SODA. Arm & Hammer sells washing soda, in the laundry asile of the supermarket, and it works very well in derusting. Use 1 tablespoon per gallon of water, and you'll be in good shape.
