How can I make my new paint last longer?

Recently finished painting my JD A after 4 failed attempts before getting a finish I was happy with. I used JD synthetic enamel without hardener because I was told hardener was hazardous if you don't have proper breathing equipment. Anyway, now I am wondering if there is anything I should use to help protect the finish? I want it to last because I don't want to go through this again soon!

Pete something else that you want to keep away from your paint is anti freeze. It will turn your paint a faded yellow in just a few minutes if you get in on the paint.
Something that My son and I use is a polish we get from john deeere it is made from soy bean oil and is real easy to use the longer it is on the tractor the easer it is to get off. We have been using it on a tractor that we painted 3 years ago and did not use hardner in the paint. We show the tractor and it still looks good. I don't have the # on the polish but it is in a soft bottle and cost about $7:00. ( we use it about 3 times a year because it is easy to use and goes a long way). I also use it on my car and trucks. Good luck Johnny.

Agree with CNKS. I would add to be especially careful to avoid gasoline spills on the paint for the first few months until the paint film is fully cured. Agressive solvents, like gasoline, can cause wrinkling of uncatalyzed and uncured enamels.

No different than paint on cars 20 or more years ago before urethane base coat clear coat came into widespread use. Keeping it inside helps. Wax it 2-3 times a year. Don't get too rough if you use a cleaner or cleaner wax, as you will remove too much paint. Keep it clean -- if you use the tractor that's hard to do. Best to wait 3-4 months first to let the paint cure. It may be dry, but it's not cured.
