Well, when I was 15, I bought an old Mustang to paint. I wanted to do all of it myself, but had no clue what to do. I learned everything the hard way, like using too coarse of sandpaper, too thick of primer, etc., etc. I hired someone to finish it up, and spent way more than it was worth. Because of my mess ups, the finish coat put on by the "professional" began to chip off within a year. To make matters worse, my high school love left me for this dirt-bag painter after meeting him while going there with me to see the progress being made! The poor paint job ended up not mattering though, as I soon totalled my Mustang in a typical 16 year old drivers wreck. The good news is: Even though I learned many hard lessons and spent way too much money, I now can, and do paint many things for myself. I've painted my own tractors, farm trucks, bulldozer, etc. over the years. You always seem to remember the hard lessons best. Try it. Your truck may not have the best paint job in the world, but by gosh, you did it yourself. Also, the guys at the local paint store can teach you much. And about the highschool girlfriend? Well, that turned out just fine too. I went on to college and met much prettier and classier girls, eventually meeting my wife, who is the world's most perfect woman. My high school girlfriend got knocked up by some other local dirtbag, and now she lives alone in a trailer with a couple of kids. Much like fill and sand paint and sandpaper, a few years of living has a way of smoothening things out. Good Luck!
