If I use a fiberglass patch to repair a piece of sheet metal that is too thin, how do I prepare the finished surface so as to be able to use regular Rustoleum machinery enamel on it? Thanks.

saw this yesterday but thought someone who knew more would have answered by now. Are you using resin/cloth or the hairy bondo stuff? If the resin&cloth kind, scuff it with 220? but if you break thru the resin(clear coat)you must put on a coat of resin or the raw 'glass WILL show, and take on moisture. The hairy bondo kind I always leave low and bondo over it to finish. I don't claim to be a body man so good luck. Fred
