There is some controversy about this. In Guy Fay's Letter Series book, he says that IH 2150 is a close match to the original IH 50, and that Case IH uses it for a basic match for all older paint. I haven't seen two tractors side by side with the two shades of paint, so I can't say. I use the PPG OMNI version of 2150, think the number is 71310. What you don't want to do is use any paint newer than 2150.

IH#2150 is a darker red than #50. Every letter series I have is #50 that can be found under protected areas unaffected by the sun or abrasion.

PPG Omni #70019 crosses to #50.

No argument. I'm not a pure originality person. Everything about the newer paints, gloss, smoothness, durability, etc, makes copying the exact color of the original 50-60 year old paint impossible. I think it faded in the dark. And, it would fade to a lighter color (until it turned to rust). Don't think there any 50 year old tractors with perfect paint to compare it to. Add to that the yellow pigment they used for a while following WWII and it becomes even more complicated. I haven't used used IH 50, not saying I won't ever use it, though. 2150 does have sort of an orange tint to it in certain light conditions, otherwise looks fine to me. Guy Fay says that in 1949, IH used 1102B, which was lighter and yellower than IH50. To quote further: "In the late 50's IH went back to another paint with different chemistry. IH 2150 switched back to to the older IH #50 shade, although the paint was more reflective of light. Case IH currently uses 2150 as the basic match for all older paint, and it is, in fact, a very close match for IH #50.

Original IH#50 crosses to DuPont #7410. Do not use #96766 which is for the late 50's Farmalls (darker red).

Red Raider,

Do you have a Dupont number to match the Case/IH Silver Argent rear rim paint? Thanks.

Don't believe I've ever seen it in DuPont. caseIH is sure to have it.
