Was wondering what the maximun time allowed is once primer is applied, until one can then put on paint??? My "other" project is going quite slow and I applied primer to sheet metal yesterday. But it might be a month before I'm ready for the paint. Thanks....

No "maximum" time per se. After the primer has dried however, you will need to sand well prior to painting. If the waiting period has been several days or weeks, you should wash the primer first with mild detergent and rinse well to remove any dirt and contaminants from the surface before sanding.

Wet sanding with a few drops (and I mean DROPS) of detergent in a buck of water used to wet the paper during sanding will help cut any remaininig dirt and oils and flush them way from the sanded surface.
