Paint hardner

going to paint JD, getting paint from JD dealer also wanting to put a filler primer on it to help hide some small pits in sheet metal. This is a working tractor, just want it to look good. don't have equipment for using the hardner, what happens when you don't use the hardner in the paint. thanks for any and all info. Don c

I assume the JD paint is enamel and not urethane. Enamel was around for years before hardener was invented. It will dry slower, may have less gloss and will fade faster. Not resistant to gasoline until fully cured (months, maybe). Acrylic urethane will not cure properly without hardener. Acrylic or synthetic enamel will, just takes longer.
