Has anyone tried clear coating with a Polyurathane clear coat like Imron over John Deere Classic Green paint? If so how long did you let the green set up before top coating?

Imron clear is suposed to be sprayed over Imron base coat. Unless my memory fails me, you have to specify that you are going to clear coat the color coat in order to have the correct binders and driers mixed into the base coat. This provides compatability so that you don't curddle or lift the base coat.

Before I tried what you are suggesting, I would spray some JD classic green on a properly prepared sheet metal surface, wait about 20 minutes and spray the Imron.

FWIW... You can dump a little of the activated JD green and the activated Imron togther in a clear glass jar and watch what happens over a period of a day or 2. If it doesn't currdle up, seperate or otherwise go sour then you could be fairly certain the paints are compatable.

You could also get the JD green mixed in Imron and then you will KNOW eveything is going to turn out good.
