What's the best paint system for newbies? I can follow directions, have good tools(Binks, charcoal resp, spray booth access) and am willing to pay for a good product...it's just that lack of experience thing! Here, people seem to promote base coat/clear systems over enamel. Are there paint systems that are a little bit more flexible for beginners and others to stay away from for being too challenging? Seems like many on this forum have solid experience with more than one product - I look forward to hearing your opinions.

Both Base coat-clear coat and enamel are good painting systems along with a few others. If your a beginner I would suggest Enamel first much more forgiving for first timers.Base coating takes a little getting used to know what you are seeing while sparying.... In either case metal prep. is paramount for a decent job. The more time you spend preping will make the job much nicer in the end. I would also suggest that you practice some spraying before you actually paint your project. Play with your Binks and get use to it.I always mist coat those hard to get places first and then plan my job to miniumize overspary Be patient and don't get in a hurry and you will do well...
