After spray painting with acrylic enamel mixed with reducer, (no hardener) I generally end up with a cup or two of paint left in the gun that I have been putting in a sealed container. Wanted to know then if I can still spray this paint at a later date then? Had a friend tell me the reducer I added will evaporate out of the paint, and I would need to add reducer again before I spray this paint, but the container I use is sealed. Will the paint still be ok after sitting for an extended time mixed with the reducer? Your thoughts? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi RJ,

If you are using a standard AE reducer you should have no problem putting a mixture in a closed container and using it up later...at a reasonable time though, not years later :o). It's the hardener that causes the mixture to have a "pot life" of perhaps only a few hours and cannot be stored for later use. This is because catalyzed (hardened) enamels dry (cure) by chemical reaction between the components and not by just exposure to air.
