Gday,

I am restoring a 1928 10-20 number KC119051
and I was wondering if anyone knew why it would
be painted with International Harvestor Red all over?.
I originally thought it may have been done by a previous owner but as I started to pull it apart I could tell that it had been done along time ago by a proffesional. I was wondering if it may have sat around during the depression and been repainted by IHC after to make them more appealing in order to sell them off in Australia. If anyone knows about the coluors of exported 10-20's to Australia I would appreciate it.

Also were the engines painted the same coulour as the exterior?

Also is there anyone in America that makes
new etched name plates for 10-20's as myn is
a bit sad?.

Regards

Richard

I can't think of any reason why your 10-20 would have been red originally if it is a 1928. It should be grey. Everything on the tractor should be grey except for the wheels, which should be red.

G'day Brian

I have spoken to an old guy here in Australia
who has worked in the tractor industry for
50 odd years and he is addiment that 10-20's
were sold red in Australia. I know that in America they didn't go red until 1936, maybe because of the depressions it sat around for 8 years until it was sold, thus needing to be repainted by IHC in Australia. It is hard to know what to do as I have not found any evidence to support what the tractor has been painted.

Also do you know if anyone makes aftermarket nameplates for 10-20's

Regards
Richard
