Has anyone tried to use electrolysis to plate parts? I was thinking of using a zinc anode on some brackets. any thoughts?

If Franz is correct, and you'd have to use some nasty product to try this, you might want to consider one of the spray-on galvanizing products. I know MSC carries one. Bought it, used it. Was easy to use, and gave a pretty good looking galvanized coating. Will have to wait and see how long it lasts!

Actually, electrolytic rust removal is electroplating rust, from the part you want to clean to the anode.
What you want to do is called electroplate galvanizing. The BIG problem, will be the electrolyte. As memory serves, to electrogalvanize, you use a nasty acid to convey the molecules of zink.
Try doing a Google search for galvanizing + electroplating

i have been to several plating shops and they use a lot of nitric and sulfurick acid, you should vist o shop in your area and ask a pro on what and how, may be a lot cheaper to let them do it for you.
