i have a oliver super 77, an early year that has the green wheels. the rims are white but they should be green right?
my paint question is this- can i use a tractor supply store paint (about $20 a gallon) on the frame, axle housing, engine block, and other cast parts then use the good stuff on the sheet metal? will the green match? saveing 60$ is not worth having a 2 tone tractor. i am having the sheet metal professionally done but not by a tractor man. he suggested this cause i would like to start painting some. i still might try the frame by myself but should i buy the expensive paint? i know i will mess up a few times. as always thanks for your time, eric

If the tractor means anything to you DONT buy the cheap paint.I used Martin Senior but bought a spray can for misc small parts from TSC...Not even close.I have seen how fast the cheap stuff fades also.

I just finished my first full paint job on a JD-B. I used the $100 a gal. Dupont paint, hardner, reducer. It turned out great and the body of the tractor has the same high shine as the sheetmetal. Painted a spreader two years ago with TSC paint and it is faded already. Spend the the money and get good advice from a pro and you will be fine.

Stay away from cheap paint!!! Years ago I bought a IH490 disc harrow that was mint except for the paint. I COMPLETELY disassembled it and painted each peice per factory original. Within 2 years of use, the paint faded and looked yukkkkky! I put over 100 hours of labor into this project only to have it ruined by using TSC Implement paint just to save a FEW bucks. My disc is always sheeded so it is not all sun fade. Buy good paint and save yourself heartache later. By the way, I never saw a virgin painted!!! LOL Good Luck

Will it match? Probably not. Will it work? It will start fading immediately. Stick with the good paint.

You would have 2 different shades of green. It will show in a parade
