I have purchased sherwin williams ultra one stage ssh520 paint and urethane hardener and reducer, this is a acrylic urethane sys. I just want to make my IH one color not three. I spent $35 on a gallon of gmc red is this a good price? I am using a binks #7 gun I think this should work?
1) can i get by sparying out side with a two cartrige mask. I am not into dying or getting any more stupid.
2)The melal is in rough condition front loader has lots of littel rust spots that i will try to D.A. out. Some one before me just shot yellow paint over this thing and is now peeling.I will try to remove as much rust and peeling paint as posible. Do I hve to prime tha whole project or can i prime the bare melal parts and shoot it that way.
3) I have ppg primer 32 from a project i did years ago can I use this stuff.

Any other sujestions would be nice. thank you in advance

1) using a 3M daul stage mask for spraying urethane is what I use but, I spray on a carport (open air) and have a 36" floor fan running behind me as I am painting moving the over spray away from me. That hardner makes the stuff lethal, so keep from breathing it.
2) If you want a smooth good looking finish prime the sheet metal after sanding with a 2 part epoxy primer. It fills scratches, small holes and surface irregularities. Give it two good coats lay it on it good. Let it dry overnight then skotchbrite pad the surface good to smooth it down and etch it, then apply the urethane per the paint can instructions.
