Any autobody pros here able to fill me in on this paint system? I know next to nothing about painting vehicles, and did a Google search for paint with low hazards, and came across this Glasurit 22 system. From reading the MSDS it appears there is no isocyanates in the hardener. It also appears to be a high-solids paint, which implies it is probably more expensive than most paint, but less is used. Any pros out there care to fill me in?

I wish someone would answer this, I'm curious too. BASF's site is very slow, and I couldn't find the MSDS's.

Hi CNKS,

The Glasurit line from BASF is not sold in my local area, I have never used it and know nothing about it. That's why I haven't responded to big fred's post. However, I did check out the web site (glasurit.com, I think) and it seems there are three different hardeners for Glasurit 22 paint (929-91, 929-93 & 929-94). The MSDS for each hardener is provided on the site. All have either ...di-isocyanate or isocyanat... listed as ingredients. Sure sounds like isos to me.

Thanks, Rod, I looked at some MSDS's they showed and I didn't see the isocyanates, but that doesn't mean they weren't there. They were touted on another site (an Australian site, I'd post it if I could find it again) as being "safe to apply" and it seemed to imply that only a cartridge type respirator was required. I'll do some more searching and see if I can find it.

Thanks, that's what I thought from the description I found in another place. Have no dealer for BASF here anyway.
