Voted for the worst stench in the shop the next day.
My top 3 stinkers.

1. PPG DelStar or Delthane
2. Martin Senour Acrylic Enamels
3. New Holland Red

I have to agree with you about the PPG.
The worst smelling primer is Nason self-etching primer. It smells just like vomit. Yummy stuff.

I can't vote because my smeller is shot. Used to work in a chemical lab-- breathed nitric, sulfuric, and hydrochloric acid fumes, along with ammonium hydroxide for 3 years. Without any protection, of course.

Hi Gene,

Well, I guess all paint stinks to a certain extent. However, I would much prefer smelling the last two rather than the first due to the isos in the Delthane hardener. Can you still get PPG Delstar mixes either with or w/o the Delthane additive? And in the non-automotive tractor colors?

Hiya Rod
I don't know if the PPG mixes are still available as it's been 10 years since I sprayed it once but the smell was so bad I still remember it as the most pungent.
Acrylic enamel is what I use 99% of the time. If I can't get a factory pack or the paint is of poor quality, I'll have the colors I need mixed at my local wholesale paint & body supply shop. Sherwin Williams used to supply an excellent tractor paint chip notebook that might still be available, I'll ask around.
These chips of course help my paint supplier mix a correct shade for those little used colors. Staying with the beautiful spraying acrylics also keeps the costs down as these custom mixes generally run 45 to 60 bucks a gallon depending on color.
Have a great weekend guys!
