I have been looking at a DeVillbiss HVLP Finishline III spray gun. Has anyone used one of these. HVLP is new to me. Which is best , suction feed or gravity feed? Thanks

I have used devillbiss spray guns for awhile now. The finishline series is a economy line. It would be great for a do-it-yourselfer but don't normally stand up to everyday pro use. I would definately recomend a gravity feed spray gun because they are easier to use at low pressure, and you can spray all of smaller amounts of paint. HVLP is nice but normally consume higher amounts of air (cfm). Also befors you spray your tractor i would recomend spraying a test panel to check atomization and pattern. Good luck.

I have not used the Finishline III but from all the reports I've heard on the Finishline II it was a great gun especially for the price. The Finishline III has a metal body where the II had a mostly plastic body so the III should be an even better gun. As to the gravity feed vs suction once you use a gravity feed guy you will be hooked and won't want to go back to a suction feed gun.

My son paints all our tractors with a Finishline II HVLP gravity feed. Great gun, does an excellent job. Use the bag liners in the cup that way you can spray from any position. Would highly recommend the gun.
