Not a paint man

I am going to have two tractors to paint this summer and will be using aerosol spray paint from tractor supply. We do not have an air compresser or paint sprayier. Will it look fair if I paint it with spray paint?

Thanks for tips or info.

You will not get a very good job with "spray bombs" You will not get enough material on the surface to flow out evenly and will end up with streaking. Save your money and buy a cheap paint gun. When you get ready to spray, rent a compressor for a weekend. You will be glad you did.

i've had a compressor made from an old ford ac compressor that had run for about 10 years. i think you will save money in the long run with a spray gun. please reconsider the TSC paint. it takes a lot of time to prep for paint only to have it fade 6 months later.

I think Cliff's got the right idea.

The only change I'd make is that I'd just buy a compressor. If you're not ready to do that, rental is the easiest route. Make sure you've got the tractors ready to go before you pick up the compressor so you're not paying for time when the compressor is just sitting there. It shouldn't be too expensive.

I would spend some time this winter and build me a compressor. You will need a good tank, kinda thick walled, and able to be welded to. An electric motor of about 1/2 hp will be needed. Use an air conditioner compressor from an automotive application. Be sure to get the hoses and manifold that attatch to the compressor. I like to use the York type, like you find on older Ford cars because of the square shape and the brackets. Get a pressure switch and a cheap regulator.

This will cost about what all those spray cans will cost.

Then spray the tractor using a cheap paint gun and inexpensive paint gun.

You will be pleased with the results.

It won't look too bad if you use spray paint. However it will take a small fortane to buy that many cans of spray paint. If I were you I would buy a cheap $50 spray gun and rent or borrow an air compressor, I think it would save you some money and do a better job.
