Hi, I 've never used a spray gun before and was wondering if I could send any oil base primer through a spray gun?? Or do I have to thin it down with paint thinner? Thank you for any help.

Buy quality products such as PPG, DuPont, or Sherwin Williams and follow the instructions on the spec sheets. If your dealer cannot provide the sheets you can get them off the internet. Some primers need to be thinned, some don't. Read the instructions and you won't have to guess. The exception to this rule is that if you have, say, a topcoat gun with too small a tip for certain primers, THEN you will either have to get a larger tip, or thin the primer 5% or so. The paint manufacturers should list the recommended tip size for primers and topcoats on their spec sheets. Go to www.sharpe1.com and look at their recommendations for different brands of paint for their guns. The same principles apply no matter what brand of gun you are using. The most important thing you should do is follow the paint/gun manufacturers recommendations.
