Does anyone have experience using this high temp manifold paint from Eastwood? I am curious as to how it holds up to actual usuage temperature over time.

Thanks,

Oh, one more thing, the can says its shelf life is one year unopened, 6 months after opening. Have found most manufacturers claims along these lines to be SUPER conservative, but that's what they say.

Also says the can will do about 4 manifolds, but agree with above, would do 10 to 20. I wonder if my first coat looked better because they're using more pigments now than 2 years ago. I've found Eastwood to continually upgrade their products.

One last thing, the reason I didn't even attempt regular car repair store high temp paints is because they say you HAVE to cure the paint within 8 hours of application. And I knew the motor wouldn't be runnable within 8 hours of painting the manifold.

When I ordered this stuff, it wasn't what I thought it was (was looking for a coating I used years ago that is more of a paste that never cures, hardens or anything, just looks like fresh cast iron), anyway, I called Eastwood, doesn't look like it ever HAS to be cured to work as advertised. But it will cure when the motor is run. So I kept it and will let you all know what I think!

Sorry so windy,

Just bought some after considerable research. Painted freshly sandblasted manifolds on my Chevy 250 L-6. Only needed one coat, looks like a million bucks. Havn't started the engine yet...probably will this week.

Found a couple reviews of this product online on discussion boards and who appeared to be independent folks raved about it.

i bought a pint 2 years ago and put on an ALLIS B after rebuild. I sandblasted the manifold first. You put in on with a foam brush.run motor for 5 minutes to warm it up and "cook". first coat looks like crap, second coat covers pretty good. put on a third thin coat and it has been good for 2 years. probably about time to do it again. Takes about a spoon full to cover the manifold. I bet a pint covers 10 manifolds. dont know if it is still o.k. in the can after 2 years, maybe i will look.

Have not used this particular item, but have used other products from Eastwood.Their products are high quality & work just as advertised.I used Plasti-Coat High Temp spray paint on my Farmall'M' with good results.Color I used was HP-17 Cast Iron Gray & is rated at 900 degrees.Tractor is used on farm some and to show, manifold still looks great after 16 months.Good Luck!
