Howdy,
Right now my grandad's cub is in the garage getting rebuilt, when it is done, i may start the painting process. It is not badly rusted, just some surface rust, what do I need to do to be ready to paint? Just sand, prime and paint? or is there other stuff I need to do? Thanks in advance.

Hate to be overly simplistic here but it all depends on your climate, the quality of materials you use, how good you want it too look and how long you want the work to last. At the very least you need to remove any flaking paint, sand all surfaces to suit your fancy for smoothness and clean the surface of oil, wax etc before painting. Filling rust pits has been talked about here recently if you look down the page a bit. The best looking and longest lasting job comes from removing all the old paint and using an automotive priming and finsh paint system like PPG's Omni line. A decent job can be done with Rustolium primer and the so-called "impliment" enamals if the tractor is prepared right but dont epect the job to last long if it sits outside.
