Anybody know where I can get plastic inserts for socket wrenches to preserve the paint on nuts during reassembly? TIA Lug

I've found that the best approach is to sand blast and powder paint the nuts. The powder paint is not nearly as brittle as automotive paint and doesn't crack off when tightening. Afterwards I usually go back and spray the nuts to cover any blemishes caused by the wrench.
I use a cheapo powder painting gun from Harbor Freight and a discarded oven from my wife's kitchen.

I believe that Eastwood sells them, at one time Sears had them also. Eastwood has a website and you can buy online.

If you find these sockets let me know. I guess we have all fought this problem. I just gave up and use small artist brush and touch up.

Butch Thanks for the help. I went to Eastwood but can't find them under their site search. Also called customer service but she didn't know what I was talking about. Can you tell me what these things are called? I have never seen them,. only heard them described. TIA Lug Nut
