Has anyone used the BPS brand paint from Tractor Supply Co, I would like to give this paint a try.I have no experience working with this type of paint which I think is synthetic enamel. What type of reducer do you think I should use, the can tells me to use naphtha but I'm thinking no way. Would automotive type straight enamel reducer work ok,? I am only going to be painting a few implements and don't see the need to use the more expensive acrylic enamel on them .

I sprayed a small amount of the BPS paint and used PPG Omni MR acrylic enamel reducer because that's what I had in the shop. Seemed to work OK. As CNKS said be prepared for fast fade, I think the BPS is about the worst of the cheap paint in that reguard.

Was looking around the shop and found a gallon of reducer from a job I did about three years ago. Dupont #3812S, Specs say it can be used with all straight enamels including synthetic enamels. Is anyone familiar with it. I painted a massey harris with old lead base enamel using it and it turned out terrific.

Hi Dan,

I think you should follow the manufacturer's specific instructions. That's the best way to achieve success with any product.

I haven't used it, thus don't know what reducer to use. One advantage of quality paints is that the manufacturer tells you what components to use and the correct ratio, you don't have to guess, and the paint doesn't fade nearly as fast. Acrylic enamel is less than $100/gal including reducer. I you don't mind the fading then use TSC paint.
