Everyone with any sense will tell you to buy one, you are probably paying mostly for their liabillity insurance. I made one that I have painted two tractors with inside a home made spray booth. The spray booth evacuates a lot of the deadly poison first. I used a $25.00 bathroom exhaust fan as the pump. Taped it up so it did not leak ands was more efficent. Taped a furnace filter over the intake so as not to allow flies or such to enter. Placed fan in a tape tight box and ran a sealed 8 inch supply from box to a dependable fresh are supplied on the other side of the building. I then installed a $6.00 25 foot long one piece section of sump pump discharge pipe about 1 and 1/4 inches in diameter from exhaust on fan,(you will need to fabricate a bushing),to a very good organic respirator mask. Tape shut one of the filters. Twist out the other filter and insert and secure sump discharge pipe. Mine fit very tight and securely. Put it on and turn it on. Get a helper or a mirror and make sure the discharge or exhale valve is discharging all the time even when you take fast deep breaths. I then put a sandblasting hood over this and it worked sweat. You will also nead a complete tyveck suite and rubber gloves. If you smell any paint at all it is not working. Paint is attracted to moisture like your eyes and will be absorbed here also. If you have glass and there is any penatration it will show up on the the inside or face side of your lenses. On one occasion I did not pull the hood down all around and got a wiff of the poison. Maybe you can buy at least the head gear as this is the most difficult part of the risky scheme. If you have any doubts about building this and using it buy one instead. Good Luck- Be Careful, carpenter
