JUST APPLIED BUFF PRIMER TO MY JOHN DEERE LAST NIGHT, CAN SAYS WAIT 48 HOURS BEFORE TOP COAT.

DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO WAIT THAT LONG?

WHAT KIND OF HARDNER CAN I USE WITH THE TOP COAT. JOHN DEERE DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER SOLD A HARDNER FOR THAT PAINT.

I paint alot of JD tractors and use Dupont 8820 reducer and a wet look hardner. Classic green drys faster for some reason than the regular green. I also recomend a wet sand with 400 after prime before painting. I many times don't wait more than several hrs after prime to sand and paint green. First coat very thin, second coat same, and last coat adjust gun for more paint. Make sure there are no dry spots and sometimes a wet sanding with 1200 and one more coat the next day is really is worth the effort.

I use NAPA 8832 and 8850 Hardener and Reducer in JD Classic Green paint. It looks fabulous. Mix it 8:6:1. You can also use "wet look" hardener, according some other JD restoration guys. I'm not sure about drying time on the primer, but I'd go with what the can says. Be sure to sand the sheet metal with at least 320 grit before painting. The smoother it is before you paint, the better it will look after.

Good luck!
