I just read the post where you were giving advice on using the surfacer over the epoxy primer on the rough or pitted surface. Is the surfacer a high build primer? I have already put epoxy on a few of my 2N parts and was trying to decide what to do for smoothing out the surfaces.

What I use is PPG Omni MP 182. This is a hardened surfacer, but is not really high build. The non-hardened equivalent is MP 181. I have been told that the advantage of hardened surfacers/primer surfacers is that they are less likely to shrink into the sanding scratches. A surfacer can be sanded and reapplied until it has covered MINOR depressions and sanding scratches. About 20 years ago I did use a high-build primer surfacer called PPG Kondar, don't think it is compatible with Omni. There is also an Omni high-build primer, I don't remember the number, nor have I talked to anyone who has used it. My opinion is that MP 182 will do just fine, as long as you use some other method to cover the deep depressions. It probably will not be adequate for deep pits however -- I haven't tried to use it for that purpose, and have used one of Evercoats products for the deep pits, and put 182 over that. Perhaps I should make some clarifications. A surfacer such as 182 should not be applied to bare steel unless it is etch-primed first. A primer or primer-sufacer can be applied to sanded bare steel. The 2-part MP 182 is strictly a surfacer, the one-part MP 181 is a primer sufacer. In any event, always use an epoxy primer first, then you won't need to be concerned whether the next step is just surfacer or primer-surfacer. The epoxy primer will assure adhesion of the next product, whether it be surfacer, primer-surfacer, or topcoat.

I could not have gotten a better answer and explanation to the questions I had about this. Thank you very much.
