I have found A revolutionary way to strip paint off you're complete crawler in just a few minutes clear down to the bare metal, I acdently descovered this method while working late at nite and found it to work well, and with little effort on you're part. First you have to get up early and start opperating you're machine, run it hard all day and into the nite, keep her warm for all of say 16 hrs then at about 3;30 am I found all the paint will just disapear in the fire.
Two weeks and a lot of love and understanding (and quite a few new parts and paint) she is completly restored and looking shiney and new, I'm afraid to take her back in the woods and scratch her all up again.
belive me the method works all too well, if you don't belive me, try it for yourself!

Mr. Allis, the best way is to send it out & have someone else do it..... All kidding aside, how big an area & what do you want to remove the paint from & if possible what kind of paint?

Mr. Clooney,
The whole tractor is what I would want to remove the paint off of, all the way down to bare metal.

Thanks

Mr.Allis, that is a lot of stripping. I use (when I can get it) a product called Aircraft Stripper as it is extremely strong & relatively inexpensive. I'm not sure if it is available everywhere though. In your case you should look for bulk stripper as it is going to take a lot to do a whole tractor. It might even pay you to take it to a commercial stripping company. If it is an old tractor you will probably find rust under most of the paint & will have to deal with that also. You can sand blast the cast parts but the sheetmetal & ornamental parts will have to be done with stripper & just a light sand blasting or stripper & rotary wire brushes.

I recently did my Ford 900 clear down to the bare metal. Really big job. I used a hot water high pressure washer and got a lot of the paint off then Sandblasted the rest. the metal will start flash rusting right away so as i sandblasted areas I sprayed primer on. Have fun

Have you tried the cornstarch and lye paint stripper recipe posted by Zane on the N discussion forum? Search the archives on the N board to find it, many say it works great and the price is reasonable compared to commercially available strippers.
