I WANT TO BUY A FRESH AIR RESPIRATOR FOR OCCASIONAL PAINTING WITH HARDNERS AND SPRAYING CABINETS WITH POLYURTHANE. DO ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH A ONE MAN SET UP HOBBY AIR UNIT? CAN I HAVE SOME FEEDBACK ON HOW THEY WORK? DO THEY DO A GOOD JOB? WILL THEY LAST FOR MANY YEARS OF OCCASIONAL USE? WHAT TYPE OF HEADGEAR SETUP SHOULD I GET, HALF OR FULL FACE MASK, OR HEAD HOOD? ANY OTHER ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I'D LIKE TO KNOW, AND GET THE PROPER SET UP BEFORE I SPEND THE MONEY. THANK YOU ALL, PAT

I have one with the hood -- works fine, main problem is the plastic tearoff has to be replaced frequently and sometimes fogs over before I get one coat on, making it difficult to see what I'm doing--but have had no major problems--you should use tearoffs to protect the main lens. Iso's can injure the eyes also, mine are sensitive to organic compounds anyway, so I will probably never use the half mask. You can get replacement hoods that use the same hose intake and head piece, they don't cost much. The thing is noisy and the hose is hard to drag around, the air gets pretty warm in warm weather after a few minutes, comes with the territory if you use isocyates. Have had mine for a couple of years with no problems, not much to go wrong with it. Far as I'm concerned it is overpriced for what you get, but you won't find them much cheaper unless you build one yourself.
