Have you considered something other than sandblasting? Such as chemical paint-stripping? You might search the archives where you'll find lots of discussion on the merits of different ways to restore and repaint. I've sandblasted one tractor, but for my next project I'm leaning toward doing something else. Sandblasting is fine for wheels, hubs, and such, but maybe not the best way for other things. Some of the professional restorers seem to really dislike sandblasting. Just my pennies' worth.
Good luck with your project.

Gary, I have had several John Deere's sandblasted and the fellow I use generally charges me $ 125.00 to $ 150.00 depending on size and how rough it is. As far as things to take off, I generally take all sheet metal off and use rags and duct tape to cover anything that might get damaged or allow the sand to get inside the tractor. You can sandblast the sheet metal also but keep in mind that it is a very thin metal and a lot of pressure will leave you with a lot of holes to fill.
