I'm looking for the paint codes for McCormick-Deering Grey (pre-1935). I have seen two different shades, a light and a dark? Which is correct? I've heard that they were using battleship surplus paint at the factory, but has anyone declared one shade to be "the one"?

I also have seen two different shades of gray being used on pre 37 machines. I wonder if it could be some thing like farmall grey (dark) and a mccormick grey (light). maybe Guy Fay could answer your question.

tractor grey, dupont98620 or 6923- used on early tractors like 8-16 of 1922. [light grey]. dupont 27625, used on farmalls before 1936,[dark grey]. these numbers can be tranferd to other paints. my1934 mccormick -deering is the darker grey. these numbers are from the ih archives. hope this helps. pg
