If the scratch is all the way through the clear coat, no. If it is shallow, maybe -- you probably will not get rid of the scratch to it's entire depth, without danger of going through the clear coat. That is one (perhaps the only) disadvantage of the BC/CC system. With the old laquers or enamels, you could polish out about any scratch that had not reached the primer.

Sure you can buff clear coat but you might not need to. I repair a lot of those type scuffs on friends cars by using 3M Polish/Wax. I can't remember the part number but it's available at any good parts store. Comes in a black squeeze bottle. This stuff when applied with a soft towel can polish out and hide those types of scuffs and scrapes quite quickly. If you left a lot of your paint on finish it might take several applications.
Good Luck!

True CNKS, if the scratch is all the way to the base coat or primer, polish won't save it. A good painter can usually spot blend the area easily without it costing too much.
