I finally made up my mind to switch to a HVLP gravity spray gun. I am thinking of the Sharpe-Platinum . I was just wondering if anyone has any comments, good or bad, on Sharpe hvlp guns.

I've had a Platinum with the 1.3 tip and 3000 air cap for almost three years and I love it. I've used it to spray epoxy primer and primer surfacer and while it wasn't very fast it did the job, I've since bought a cheap gun for primer to save the Platinum for topcoats. At the suggestion I read on another forum I usually turn my inlet pressure up to 55 psi instead of the 50 psi that Sharpe recremends and it will lay down single stage urethane paints as smooth as glass. I'd guess that I've ran 15 gallons of paint through my Platinum so far without a single problem.

If you are talking about the airless guns, those are made for houses, not automotive applications, the atomization will be poor -- probably better than a brush, though!

I have one -- don't think there are any bad comments. Excellent gun.

I've been using a Sharpe 975 HVLP w/pressure cup for about 6 or 7 years. Wouldn't use anything else now given the reliability and finish quality of this gun. I used to use an Accu-Spray system which was great but was too expensive to maintain.
