I want to repaint my Ford 8N and was wondering if I should have the old paint sand blasted off or use a paint remvoer. I am not going to do it all at once, just a couple parts at a time as I get time. Would I be better off taking the parts and having them sandblasted or use paint remover? I don't have a lot of problem with rust. Thanks.

When I did my Cub I used a marine grade stripper. On anything Icould take off and wouldnt be getting inside the engine or tranny I had sandbalsted.I think all together I spent maybe 40 bucks on blasing and 40 on stripper, but I still have a half of a gallon of stripper left.I just brushed it on heavy and let it sit for a couple of hours in thr shader the hit it wit hmy pressure washer.

I would do both. Let the paint remover do the softening up work and bulk removal. Then follow up with a quick dusting of blast sand.

Sandblasting is a PIA, but it simply cannot be beaten for a total bare metal starting point. Minimize the sandblasting by using the remover first.

Joe,

Thanks for you comments. Can you recommend a good paint remover to start with?
