Once it gets on a surface calcium is real hard to get completely rid off, especialy a surface that is pitted. I'd guess you blew part of the calcium back onto the cleaned areas when blasting, I have had the same thing happen as you did. Now I wash rims with strong detergent soultion before blasting then again after. The cleaning will cause some surface rust to form and I re-blast myself but you could probably used muratic acid or other rust remover for this step. I would like to find something to nutrualize (spelling?)the calcium. Anybody have an idea for that? I am not much at home chemistry.
