hello all. i recently bought a 91 chevy pickup. the driver door sags pretty bad. by lifting out at the end of the door i get about 3/4 inch travel up and down. i haven't taken the door off yet. my question is are those hinges rebuildable. are there rebuild kits available for those hinges? thanks, greg

The doors on the newer Chevy and GMC trucks use non-adjustable, precision fit hinges. If yours are worn to the point of that much drop, then the oversize bushings maybe the only hope you have. If the holes are elongated too much, then you are going to have to weld up the damaged area and then carefully grind out the hole to round again using a die grinder. Be sure to keep the original hole center or you will be no better off than before.

I would do as Gene said and try the oversized bushings first. It probably will work fine without any further reconditioning.

Local body shop guy put oversized pin/bushing in mine to stop this problem.

we rebuild the doors of my 98 and put door pins and bushing in them and they were really bad. It worked but you have to take the doors off to do this
