The original rims on my 1954 super H appear to be galvinized coated. I blasted them to remove rust and noticed deep swirl marks around the top bead. This looks like it was caused by a tire removal tool or even from the factory. The coating was over top of the marks leading me to believe this is a factory mark. If this is factory should I leave it alone? If I need to remove these marks what would be the best process. the marks are patterned and about 1/32 deep. I plan to paint them with IH silver paint. Any help or opinion is appreciated. The tractor is almost complete and looks show quality.

Just went out and looked at my Super H rims that I painted a few months ago. What I see are marks that apparently were caused during the manufacturing process. These are just below the lip of the rim for the entire circumference--definitely a pattern. A slight curved mark, at an angle, perhaps 1/2 inch long. There are also other factory marks (as far as I'm concerned) in other places. If that's what yours are, I would leave them alone.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was trying to describe. I think I will leave it alone, New paint and new tires this week and this tractor is complete.
