I am looking to buy a pressure washer for the purpose of cleaning tractors, implements and my vehicles. Can someone please advise on how much pressure I need for these tasks? Farm & Fleet has a 2300 psi/6 HP one, a 2400 psi/5 HP one, and a 2700 5 HP one. Which might be the better buy for my purposes?

Thank you.

We have a 4GPM, 3800PSI machine at work and a person has to be carefull with it. It will remove anything including well adhering paint if it's given a scratch or chip so it can get under it and you have the wand close to the surface. For lightly attached gunk, GPM is important to speed the job. For solidly attched gunk, pressure is important to get it loose. As Gene said heat sure helps but dont screw up your new washer by running hot water through it unless it is rated for it, few are. Hard to pick one from your list with no detials, I would go with the most GPM and pressure I could afford.

If you can afford it, please buy a pressure washer that is propane or diesel fired. The hot water with the high pressure and soap is what does the trick. For light farm work and such a cold water unit will be fine. For serious degreasing you really need the high flow hot water units.
I have my unit set at 1500 psi but it flows 3.5 gpm. It will take paint off.
Make sure your machine uses either a CAT or Admiral water pump, the only pumps worth having. Mine is 5.0 horse electric, 230v.
My unit is indentical looking to the second unit up from the bottom on this page,

I had it custom built to my specs locally for about $2000.00, but I know the guy who managed the Tuff Mfg plant who gave me a great deal on it. These Tuff pressure washers are excellent quality. My unit is over four years old and runs as good as the day I bought it. Only maintenance has been fuel filter changes and keeping it clean.
