I have a Devilbiss Sba 570 and I bought it new several years ago, but have hardly used it. I was told it was suppose to be a good gun when i bought it. It seems like it blows paint more to one side of the spray pattern than the other. What can i do to fix this problem? I don't know whether I need a different size tip, but i can't seem to find any numbers on the one i'm using. Is there small grit paper to put on the 2-3/4" by 16-1/2 body file? I can't seem to find anything smaller than 80 grit. Thanks for any help.

Hi David,

I have DeVilbiss guns but I have never heard of an SBA model. There is no such model in either their '89 or their '02 catalogs. Are you sure you have the model correct? CNKS is probably right on the pattern problem. Or it could be a little dried paint in the fluid tip or on the needle that needs to be cleaned. Here's a basic troubleshooting guide. You should have gotten something similar with your gun.

You can get that paper in grits from 80 to 500 if you buy it in rolls. 3M markets it. Any NAPA store should be able to get it for you. Or any local paint supplier to autobody shops. You won't find it in dept. stores and there are quite a few strips worth in a roll. Possibly more than you want to buy. Or you can buy it or check some prices on-line.

Don't know about the sandpaper, but it sounds like the holes on one side of your spray cap are partially plugged. The tip and the cap should be matched from the manufacturer, I don't think that's your problem.
