Say, if the repair you need is to fill a hole in the sheet metal, especially on a large flat area, better take it to an auto body shop. they can mig-weld a patch on or in the hole, and won't leave waves in the hood, which you'd never be able to fill satisfactorially. If you try to gas weld it, you'll have big trouble! It can be done, but ya have to know the trick! Rusty Jones

I am not a JD man so I need to know if are you dealing with a dent that was hammered in the hood for clearance? Or a hole that was cut in the hood? or an existing hole that was enlarged. On my A-Cs when I remove an aftermarket pre-cleaner its a matter of removing it and replacing it with the proper cap and I'm done, lol.
