Drying primers (laquer, self-etching)require a considerable amount of time to release the solvents. Curing type primers (Those that use an activator like epoxy and urethanes) can be coated almost immediately.

Read what it says on the can or spec sheet. Some have a time listed. Others can be topcoated as soon as the primer "flashes" or becomes tacky -- but do what the instructions say.

Thanks for the input guys I really appreciate it. I am certain it must be trying at times to field questions from a rookie such as myself but i do appreciate it.

It is hard for a non-grammer correct type like me to type post and get the point across in a few words without sounding harsh, rude or both but it is not intended. Sure wouldnt be much of a board if people who didn't know didnt ask, nor would it be much of a board if those who know or claim to know ran off people who ask. Im my slightly canted opinion this is one of the better boards on the site. Your welcome.
