I have tried the rollers, pads and etc without success. The only way I have been able to get results that I am happy with is to paint them with a small brush and it usually takes two coats. It is a time consuming task given my painting skills (or lack there of) but even I can eventually can get it looking pretty good.

I used a cheap foam roller about 2" wide. Mixed the yellow with hardner but without thinning. Pour some on something flat and roll the roller till it soaks it up. Sand the letters and roll the roller over them lightly. Make several passes after each one has had time to get tacky. Turn out very well. I am sure an ink roller would work well also but for $.50 you can throw away the foam one.
